I love winter session! Cold, yes, but I think they make for beautiful and fun portraits. I photographed this sweet girl just a year ago when she was a newborn and now there is no stopping her.

I am looking at offering some fun video and still photo slide-shows with certain sessions this year. I am still figuring out how to best make these little movies, but below you can see a sample I played with. This is my daughter’s Karate belt promotion. It was really the first time I used the video on my camera so I am still getting use to the focus and should have been shooting on a tripod, however with the amount of parents, there was very little room. Just another little note is that the video may take some time to load.

These two kids have so much personality! I could have sat and had a conversation with them all day. They were so easy to photograph because the personalities shined through in every way, from their clothes to the smiles. It was so cute because mom had read my website about how allowing me time with the kids to connect and get to know them really helps to make the photo session go well. So we were in the sitting room and I would see mom peek around the kitchen wall and giggle at the cute conversations her kids were carrying on.
While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.

Baby Boy “L”
This sweet boy knows what he likes; he likes to be cuddled close. I always tell parents that I let the baby tell me how the session should go. Some babies like to be naked, some don’t; some don’t mind hats, others can not tolerate them; some love to be swaddled tightly, others like their hands left out of the swaddle. This is why, even though I may come into a newborn session with a game plan, the baby always makes the final call and I respect that until the end.
It always amazes me and solidifies for me what a miracle each little baby is with how quickly their personalities shine through even when it seems that they only eat, sleep, and….well, you get my point, I am sure. 😉
